Lucy Noguera
Children’s Author

Lucy lives in Ealing, London with her family and her two dogs. She was a primary school teacher and then a teacher of the deaf before starting her own small educational company. She has worked with many schools arranging and planning book-based events and projects, all with the aim of encouraging children to develop a lifelong love of reading.

Her first book – SWOP 1: The Satsuma-Sized Secret is a 7+ chapter book, designed to be very accessible. It’s dyslexic-friendly both in layout and font. It introduces sign language and has a deaf character. The sequel – SWOP 2: The Daring Dinosaur Detective – is due this year.

Her first picture book, Herman Needs A Home, is an adventure story underpinned by themes of conservation and the effects of plastic pollution on marine wildlife and beaches.

She runs many school visits both in person and via zoom, all planned to suit either KS1 or KS2.

School Visits

Lucy is available for school visits virtually and in person. She is based in London but happy to travel. Visits are suitable for early years through KS2 and can be adapted to suit individual classes/year groups or key stages. She offers one hour, half day or whole days. Visits to Special Schools are for all ages including secondary provision.

Please get in touch for any other book related events including book festivals or book shop visits and they can be adapted to fit requirements.

SWOP 1:
The Satsuma Sized Secret

What would you do if you found the world’s smallest dog?

When Ernie and his family leave the countryside to live in London,
Ernie feels like he will never settle into his new home.

Yet on his first night a surprising new friend introduces himself - Swop. Swop is a dog, a tiny dog that just happens to be the size of
a satsuma!

SWOP is suitable for all children aged seven and up. It also introduces some sign language as Ernie’s sister Ivy is deaf and Ernie teaches some signs to Swop to help him keep him a secret.

SWOP 2: The Daring Dinosaur Detective is coming soon.

SWOP 2: The Daring Dinosaur Detective

What would you do if your super-secret, pocket-sized pet disappeared on a school trip?

A rare dinosaur fossil has gone missing at the Natural History Museum, just as Ernie's class are taking a tour. Now Swop - the world's smallest dog - has disappeared too!

Can Ernie and his friends, Rafa and Clemmie, solve the dino mystery and get Swop back before the school coach leaves? Or will Swop and the fossil be lost forever?

Herman Needs A Home

A little crab’s search for a shell to call his home.

When Herman the hermit crab gets too big for his shell, he can’t find a new one that feels just right. With his sister, Hiro, he travels up and down the beach in search of a shell he can call home. They don’t find a shell but they do find something else - a pile of rubbish left behind on the sand. But can Herman make a home out of any of it?
